You Matter! And NO Democrats and Republicans aren’t the same!

I will argue about this until the end of time. Unless people are willing to do the tedious, tenacious, boring, administrative, financial, public relations, and recruitment of building a third party then complaining about a two party system is self indulgence.

The act of governing is hard. Politics is hard. Public relations and public messaging is hard. The political process is cumbersome, boring, difficult to navigate, and not sexy. But, if we want people in office that want the same things that we do, then we have to participate in the process of getting them elected. If we want legislation that advances our values and our goals, then we have to participate in the system that writes the legislation. Who holds office matters, from the local county auditor or city commissioner to the President of the United States...and who you vote for MATTERS! YOUR VOTE MATTERS!

It's a really fun idea to think that people can go out into the streets and tear down the system and it's a heck of a lot more engaging then sitting through a 14-hour platform committee meeting. But, the platform committee meeting is a thousand times more effective at actually changing the metric then 1,000 nightly protests will ever be.

Do not misunderstand me, protesting is an effective and necessary tactic in social change movements but it cannot be the only tactic.
The protest is the beginning of the process of social change, the work of social change is much more nuanced, frustrating and tedious. It takes patience and tenacity.

Lack of participation is what got us the January 6th Capital insurrection. Donald Trump, Stephen Miller, Betsy Devos, Bill Barr, Brett Kavanagh, Amy Coney Barrett, Neil Gorsuch, and Micheal Flynn . It's what got us Marjorie Taylor Greene, Matt Gaetz, Ted Cruz, Chuck grassley, Mitch McConnell, Paul Gosar (to name a few) and the entire fucking State of Texas.

When people refuse to participate in the system they're basically handing over resources to nefarious people who misuse them and create more destruction to our social and physical environment.

It's a nice idea to think that it can all be torn down and we can create a fair and equitable society from the ashes... but until that happens this is the system that we have.
Unless you're willing to participate in it, the social and economic justice we all seek slips further and further away from our grasp...

People need help and change now. We need criminal justice abolishment and community safety construction immediately! We need to expand the social safety net to more Americans in need, and create investments in communities. We need to reinstate the voting Rights act and combat Republican gerrymandering that disenfranchise voters. And we need to fix the fucking Supreme Court, because birthing body autonomy is at risk, gay marriage is at risk, transgendered rights are at risk, the right of people to access to clean water is at risk and we're on the verge of over turning Brown vs The Board of Education and Roe V. Wade all because of Republicans and Donald Trump and the massive amount of judicial appointments that happened from 2016-2020, including on the highest court of our land.

Lack of participation and lack of awareness is why Republicans were able to challenge the election results and almost every swing state this year. And it's why we have private prisons that are capitalizing on the enslavement of black and brown bodies. It's why we have a justice system where police can get away with murdering people. It's why gay marriage, transgender rights, voting rights and civil liberty in general are all in danger.

Republicans are chipping away at the very idea of a democratically elected representative government. They sincerely want a dictatorship with Donald Trump at the helm.

Stop saying there is no point in voting! The system we have isn't perfect, but it's not going anywhere anytime soon and the more you refuse to participate the more the people that want to oppress us condense their power.
